And our Sue's Clues Mystery Author is:

Our Mystery Author this round is Kylie Brant.
Born and bred in the midwest, Kylie is a special education teacher by day; a novelist by night. Author of thirty books, she is known for her romantic suspense.
Below Kylie share a bit about herself and her writing. When you are done here, visit her at her website: http://www.kyliebrant.com/
1. Tell us about your family. I know you are married and have five kids. Boys? Girls? Couple of each? Do they read your books?

I have four sons and a daughter. My youngest are a set of twins, a
boy and a girl. Our house dripped with testosterone :) I like to
think I learned to write great male characters from living with five men. And everything I know about drama, I learned from my daughter, LOL.
2. I read an article from your local paper that quoted your husband to the fact that your choice of writing makes for interesting dinner conversations. I can only imagine! Is your husband a good sounding board when you are writing? What kind of suggestions does he make?

Oh I don't use him as a sounding board :) His suggestions usually involve the couple having sex, and regardless of his opinion, that really doesn't solve all my plot problems! I do ask when I have a car or agriculture question. And I once needed his help with a fight scene, when I was trying to come up with realistic actions the heroine in the story could take after being assaulted by someone twice her size. I don't think he'll be receptive to helping me that way again. He was bruised for weeks <g>.
3. You teach special education at an elementary school. How long have you been teaching? It sounds like a challenging but, I'm sure, rewarding job. What made you choose that particular field of teaching? What is your biggest challenge teaching such a select group of children?

I'm in my 32nd year. I chose that career because I wanted to make a difference, and I really feel I do with my students. I also learn from them everyday. The biggest challenge is never with the students, but dealing with paperwork (it's endless), school and federal policies and--dare I say it--parents!
4. Now, being the author and teacher must make for some interesting parent/teacher conferences. Myself? I don't think I could resist talking about writing if you were my child's teacher. Has that ever happened? What types of reactions do you get considering the type of writing you do?

I always say I'm the best kept secret in town :) A few of my parents know that I write, but many don't. So the topic rarely comes up. I have a new aide this year who recently learned about my second career. I think she still looks at me a bit amazed, wondering how I balance the two. But I'm pretty compartmentalized—at school I'm usually thinking only about school. Too busy to think of anything else!
5. If you could choose any of your books to be a movie, which would you choose? Who would you cast in the lead and supporting roles?

I think DEADLY INTENT would make an excellent movie! It takes place in Denver in winter, complete with blizzards and endless snow. I've chosen Selma Hayek for Macy Reid, and a younger Ewan McGregor for Kellan Burke.
6. Tell us about the MINDHUNTER series.

Raiker Forensics (otherwise known as The Mindhunters) is headed by the legendary ex-FBI profiler Adam Raiker. He employs some of the best criminologists in the country and they consult with law enforcement on particularly complex high profile crimes.
7. And, of course, about the newest installment of the series, DEADLY INTENT.

DEADLY INTENT pairs forensic linguist Macy Reid with fellow investigator Kellan Burke as they search for the abducted eleven-year-old daughter of mogul Stephen Mulder. Macy and Kellan shared a night together six months earlier—a night neither of them has forgotten. But their personal lives have to take a backseat as they race the clock to find Ellie Mulder before the kidnapper follows through on his threats. It's a chillingly suspenseful tale, lightened in spots by Kell's irreverent attitude. I hope readers will cheer, like I did, Ellie's response to her precarious situation.
