1. You grew up in Chicago and now live in rural Minnesota. Big difference! How did you end up there?

It is a big difference, let me tell you. But wonderful. We left Chicago when my husband was offered a job in California. While we were both apprehensive about leaving the city we loved and all the friends and family that came with it, the opportunity was too good to pass up. So we headed west. While the career move paid off, we never really took to California. So after several years we started looking for something that would bring us back to the Midwest. By that point, we had four little kids under our belt and city living wasn’t a priority. When the offer came from Minnesota we visited and completely fell in love.

2. Was it hard getting used to such different environment? What was the biggest change for you?

Honestly we adjusted very quickly to our new environment. Of course we missed little things…like being able to walk to a bookstore or have our pick of any cuisine we could imagine. But we do a lot of cooking with friends and my Kindle ALMOST makes up for not being able to linger in the bookstore aisles for hours at a stretch. Okay, I miss the bookstores. A lot.

3. Do you ever miss living in a big city?

Lol, well, aside from the bookstore thing mentioned above, I think it’s more a case of nostalgia than an actual desire to move back. I love the memories of the life we shared back in Chicago, but I wouldn’t want to give up what we have here. And I’m lucky enough to get back to Chicago at least once a year to visit with my family who still lives there. We go out to trendy restaurants, hit the funky shops…and then I go home beat from all the city hubbub, able to wait another year for the next fix.

4. Tell us about meeting your husband - sounds like it might be inspiration for novel?

Lol, I could probably fill several volumes chattering away about my husband, but I’ll spare you. In a nutshell, we met while studying abroad in Rome, Italy. He was the guy I couldn’t get out of my head, who snuck into to my heart when I wasn’t looking, and never left. He makes me feel like a kid, makes me laugh, and makes me fall in love with him all over again about once a week. He’s my best friend and definitely gets worked into my books from time to time.

5. How about the kids? You've four keeping you busy?

Very busy! Three boys and a girl raging in ages from eight to the twins who are five. So maybe, very, very busy, lol. I love having a house full of crazy going on, but there are times when it can be difficult to balance with the writing. We do have a sort of bittersweet resolution to that though, as the twins start full day kindergarten in the fall. It will be great to have all those hours to work, but I’ll miss having little Team Trouble around for early afternoon snuggles.

6. Your first book is just hitting the shelves! How exciting is that?

It’s been a wild journey getting to this point with lots of starts and stops and ups and downs, so having this book actually hitting the shelves is just incredible. And I will definitely admit to stalking the grocery store and snapping shots of my book on display!

7. Tell us about the book.
