The Drinking Game by Chris Redding

An FBI Profiler and a Homicide Detective are both at a crossroads in their respective careers. Reluctantly they join forces to find a serial killer. Neither wants to do another case, but will because it involves a mutual friend. The closer they come to nabbing the killer, the closer they come to each other.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Chris Redding tells a captivating and suspenseful story of FBI agent Jen O’Grady and tough cop Sean Gaudette. There’s a serial killer on the loose and his pattern matches that of '‘the drinking game'’ that Jen played one night in college—one night she desperately wants to forget. Jen and Sean meet when Ken, Jen's ex-fiancé and Sean's ex-partner, is murdered. There is an instant attraction between Jen and Sean. These are realistic characters that have very human flaws and desires. All of the characters have so many facets, and almost all of them have something to hide, including Jen.

This novel manages to deliver mystery, suspense, and romance all in one. I was a little confused at times, and would have liked more background information on the characters. Redding could have gone into more detail about Ken and Jen’s relationship, Ken and Sean’s relationship, and the events of the fateful night of the drinking game. Some questions were still left unanswered at the end of this novel, but the plot is very intriguing and keeps one riveted.
