The Guardians of Eternity Book 1 by Belinda Palmer

Rogar of Hamun thought he was just another ordinary Mortal creation of the beautiful Faerbrarean, Chavva of Relga. When he bonds for eternity with one of her mortal issue, Elesa of Relga, Chavva besieges him, demanding he fulfill his other obligations, including his duties as the Immortal he really is. And marriage to her.

Agreeing to wed Chavva in exchange for Elesa's life, Rogar soon realizes Chavva has no intention of sparing his beloved. Rogar kills the mortal responsible for Elesa's terminal state even though the price will be execution. But he'd rather be dead than live an eternity as Chavva's love slave.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

THE GUARDIANS OF ETERNITY BOOK 1: ROGAR OF HAMNUN by Belinda Palmer is odd - in a good and thoroughly confusing way. There is stuff in that book I still don't get, even after flipping back and forth several times through it, finishing it, and utilizing the index. That's right, it comes with an index, so you know it's not an ordinary read.

Perhaps the strangeness and, well, flat out weirdness of a horned half eel-man-dragon hero thingy named Rogar is why I like it. It makes you think and try to put together who is who, what is what, and where am I, all at once. It seems like a lot of work, I know, but the concept is a cool one if you like reading about the possible afterlife that awaits us.

The romance isn't really there, though there is a lot of "rutting" going on. It's more of an eye-opening journey for Rogar and his want-to-be and maybe mate, Elesa of Relga. In my opinion, there is just so much going on with Rogar personally that he doesn't have time for commitment until the book is nearly over.

So, if you like fantasy-type books about things that are hard to understand but cool to imagine, and heroes that truly would frighten you should you ever happen to meet one (way more than a vampire, I think, but who knows?), pick it up. However, I think it would make a better movie.
