HUNTING FEAR Author: Kay Hooper ISBN: 0553803166 8/2004 ROMANTIC THRILLER Publisher: Bantam
I got hooked on Kay Hooper when her Shadows trilogy was released back-to-back in 2000. I devoured that trilogy (and continue to do so) as well as her subsequent Evil trilogy. I love Ms. Hooper's imagination. Spooky, scary, terrifying. Those words just about cover her riveting stories of the bizarre. I think of her as the "Mistress of Macabre". HUNTING FEAR , the first of her new Fear trilogy, is no less chilling than the Shadows and Evil trilogies. Noah Bishop, the head of a special FBI unit of psychics, is back with his not-so-merry band of agents. In HUNTING FEAR, agent Lucas Jordan, whose psychic speciality is sensing people's fears, is on the hunt for a murderer who doesn't kill his victims. (How's that for a teaser?) Boy oh boy...HUNTING FEAR is a gripping, fascinating look into the mind of an evil predator. Ms. Hooper, a master storyteller and atmosphere builder, has once again created a creepy, terrifying work of art. My only complaint with this author is I wish she would write faster. The next Fear installment won't be released until the summer of 2005. The Mistress of Macabre is back. This thriller is guaranteed to raise the hairs on the back of your neck...and maybe make your skin crawl. Debbie Jett |
