Twist of Faith by Kelly McDonough

The minute Father Michael laid eyes on Kathleen he felt something he shouldn’t. Extremely rugged and good-looking, he’s used to women’s advances. But, he’s never felt anything for any woman… until Kathleen. He finds himself in love with the woman of his dreams. Should he risk exposing his feelings? Or, should he stay committed to God?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

I really enjoyed this story of hope and rebirth. Most of the story centers on Kathleen, a recently divorced mother of two, and Michael, a priest. Kathleen and Michael are very attracted to one another, but fight those feelings because he is a priest and cannot marry. Throughout the book, Kathleen learns to become stronger and that she can take care of herself and her children, especially when she has a good support system. Michael learns that there are many ways to serve God—not just by being a priest.

I think that one of the greatest themes of this book is faith—faith in God, faith in oneself and in ones partner. Even the kids on the street, who Michael and Kathleen help, have to have faith that their lives will get better. Kathleen learns that there are those out there who have it harder than she does. This book does describe some graphic sexual abuse and exploitation of children, which may be hard for some to read. I really liked the Christmas theme throughout this book as well—I think I will read it again in a few months to help get me in the Christmas spirit! McDonough does a wonderful job describing everything from characters feelings to the weather. TWIST OF FAITH reminds us to keep the faith and not give up hope, and that there really are Prince Charmings out there!
