RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

I have to admit that I never thought I'd be one much for sci-fi romance. Leave it to a short ebook called, IN THE ARMS OF A LOST LOVE, to prove me wrong. For a shorter than normal read for me, I thought it fairly well written and entertaining, and I actually enjoyed the "humans in an alien world" theme very much. It reminded me in parts of Stars Wars, mainly Jabba the Hut when he enslaved the princess, with flashbacks to the Stars Wars bar filled with aliens and other-worldly characters.

After reading IN THE ARMS OF A LOST LOVE, I've decided that as an author you have to have a great imagination to write futuristic or science fiction romance. There's alien languages to invent; strange beings from other planets to conjure up who seem original and yet don't flaunt too much of an ick factor for the reader (i.e. slimy scales, purple oozing noses, etc.). There are strange new worlds and unknown territories to fabricate and explore, and on top of all that you have to fill it with strange yet endearing creatures, a decent plot, and human characters that the reader can relate to. That has to be a somewhat daunting task, and I thought Lady Blade pulled all off rather nicely, right down to Dylan's co-pilot Tianni's tentacle fingertips.

I liked both Dylan and Stacy, and thought the author did a very good job in working the ups and downs of their relationship. There are several characters of interest that flit in and out, especially after Dylan gets himself in trouble over some missing cargo, and the author has taken great pains to describe them in detail (which conjured up some pretty interesting pictures in this reviewer's head). The story isn't long, and at 119 pages it flows pretty quick and can be easily read in a couple hours, which was just the right fit for my pocket pc and a busy doctor's office.

If you enjoy sci-fi romances with good sex, good romance, and a variety of original characters, Lady Blade will happily escort you out of this world IN THE ARMS OF A LOST LOVE.
