LOVE ON THE RUN Author: Barbara Donlon Bradley ISBN: 0759944083 7/2004 HISTORICAL Publisher: Hard Shell Word Factory
LOVE ON THE RUN is full of humor and adventure. The chemistry between Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Beaudreaux and Andrew Leroux is amazing. The sexual tension between these two builds throughout the novel, especially after they marry ‘in name only’. Beth and Andrew are both very strong-willed, which makes for some really funny dialogue between the two. Thankfully, Andrew eventually realizes that Beth can take care of herself (especially since she knows a little tae kwon do) although she does still need rescuing occasionally! This novel is very fast-paced and full of suspense. I was guessing until the end who betrayed Andrew to the criminal gang he was seeking. Fans of novels set in the Old West will appreciate the historical significance of the Pinkerton agency, which is who Andrew works for. I really like the attention to detail that Bradley gave to writing this book; I felt tired and dirty after reading about the train rides and would have liked ‘three fingers of bourbon’ for myself! This is a very enjoyable novel which I highly recommend. Carrye Syma |
