JOHN RILEY'S GIRL Author: Inglath Cooper ISBN: 0843952067 4/2004 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: HARLEQUIN SUPERROMANCE
Olivia Ashford, TV anchor woman, had worked hard to gain the success in her chosen field. Now she had the opportunity to gain the position she had always wanted, and a simple invitation to her high school reunion could throw a wrench in the works. Should she go back to her home town and bring up all the heartache she had finally convinced herself she was over? John Riley couldnt believe it when he was forced to host the reunion on his farm when he looked up and saw Olivia. His first desire was to throw her physically off his property. How did she have the guts to just show up, when that night years ago she had disappeared without a word to him and never once tried to contact him? He had married and had a little girl trying to forget her. When his wife died he carried a guilty conscience for not loving her as she should have been loved. Olivia had a deep dark secret as to why she had run away that night, never to be in contact with anyone there again. Except for the one time that she tried to see John. In JOHN RILEYS GIRL, Inglath Cooper has taken the emotions of two people to an immense new level. She leads the reader into their heartfelt problems, and I ended up caring so much for these two characters I ached for them. Ms. Cooper has an uncanny knack of seeing into the characters' feelings that made me feel their pain. From the beginning I could not put down this book. It kept me turning the page, one after the other 'till the happy ending. Then I was sorry it was over and wanted to read it again. It was excellently written and I will anxiously await the next novel by this author. Mariah LaGrand |
