A Novel with Thoughts and Ponderings

A TALE OF TWO VIKINGS

Author: Sandra Hill ISBN:0843951583 5/2004 HISTORICAL Publisher: DORCHESTER
Time Period: 964 AD - Saxon lands

A Tale of Two VikingsHas an eye for the ladies. Loves a good fight. Splits his sides over rude jokes. Won't ask directions no matter how lost he is...even in a longship, for the love of Odin!

Sound like anyone you know? Maybe every man you know?

Toste and Vagn Ivarsson are all that and more—a lot more. Identical Viking twins, they have always been at each other's sides. And now, they are about to face Valhalla together. Or maybe something even more tragic: being separated. For even the most virile Viking must eventually leave his best buddy behind and do battle with that most fearsome of all opponents—the love of his life.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Two for the price of one. That is what Sandra Hill offers in her newest release, A TALE OF TWO VIKINGS. Both offerings are quite good, of course. And why shouldn't they be? You can't go wrong with hunky twin Viking brothers; the incomparable Toste and Vagn Ivarsson.

Once you get past trying to pronounce the names correctly, Toste and Vagn both have good tales to tell. Mistakenly, they both believe each other to be dead on the same battlefield and seek to avenge one another. They both end up in the strangest (and quite funny) situations involving unavailable females. And for some reason, their twin bond is not broken despite their belief in the other's death. The best conversations in the whole book involve Toste and Vagn speaking via their "twin" connection in their brains.

The winsome females are quite likable in their own right. How can they not be when one, Esme, is practically a nun (truly, except for the final vows) and the other is known as Helga the Homely! The women provide much comic relief and are quite up to the task of taming the two headstrong Vikings. How they do it is laugh-out-loud funny.

Though not my favorite in Hill's Viking books, I still found much to smile and chuckle about while reading this one. Since I have twins myself, I love (and marvel at) the twin telepathy going on here. It truly makes me scratch my head and wonder what my own kids are doing! So, my only real complaint is that I won't ever really meet these warriors!
