The MacKinzies: David by Ana Leigh

Cynthia MacKenzie never claimed to be a lady. She always felt she had the upper hand with men, using her beauty and bold charm to seduce them. After a two-year tour of Europe, the vivacious and worldly young woman returned from her futile search for an alternative to boredom. Roberto certainly had not been the answer, but back home at the Roundhouse ranch, far away fro the Swiss Alps and the bistro so Paris, a new challenge awaited her....

When David Kincaid strode into the train station, Cyn figured him for a farmhand. His tall, muscular body, faded jeans, and Stetson hat gave him a rugged and commanding appearance. Once introduced to the sexy WEstern she discovered that he was not only an engineer for the railroad, but he was also hardworking, serious and all-too formal for her taste. In the wild and cold mountains of Colorado, their two strong wills would battle it out, creating sparks along the way. It was take more than flirting to win David over, but there was more than one way to win in this game of love.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

If you like the Western Era involving the railroad business, or if you are a fan of Ana Leigh's, The MacKenzies series, you can pick up her latest book, THE MACKENZIES: DAVID, today. Since I have not read any of the other MacKenzie books, I can say this was not bad for my first.

The MacKenzie here is a woman, Cynthia, who has been traveling around the world in an attempt to alleviate her boredom with life. She is a free spirit and runs her own life no matter what anyone else thinks of her. She returns home to an ailing father, only to find that what she really wants was there all the time.

What she wants, at least for the moment, is David, the lead man making her dad's dream of the railroad stretching from Colorado to Texas a reality. David thinks Cyn, as her friends call her, is flighty and selfish, and interested only in a good time with him for the moment. He resists her attempts and seduction for as long as he's able. When he finally succumbs, and you knew he would, he discovers there is more to Cyn than he ever would have guessed.

So begins the battle of wills destined to become a wake up call for both players. I cannot forget to add that Cyn and Dave have some siblings to contend with and worry about. Or the mystery of who is sabotaging the railroad along the way. Best of all, there is a gaggle of school children who cause me to chuckle every now and again. No doubt they will make you smile, too.
