Trace the Rainbow by Jeanne Hart

Intrigue and desperation overwhelm Rebecca Adams in her determination to save her uncle John Adams' presidency, until she meets politics' newest voyager: Shay Dukane.

Was Shay sent to destroy everything? Dare she trust him?

In a heedful alliance with Shay, Rebecca comes to believe he is the one man to unlock her tormented heart and free her to love again.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Rebecca Adams, niece to President John Quincy Adams, works diligently for his reelection. Her part-black slave, Tookie, is constantly with her and helps her in any way she can. When the Declaration of Independence comes up missing, the two women try go to a fire where it should be, but it is not there. Instead, Rebecca gets hit on the head and is rescued by a new man in her uncle's cabinet.

Shay Dukane, immediately attracted to the president's niece, is happy to be involved in finding out who is trying to take away his presidency. Though he knows Rebecca does not trust him completely, he is determined to have her for his own.

TRACE THE RAINBOW by Jeanne Hart is a very involved story of intrigue, with a great historical background of the times. The Indians play a major part in the novel, and bring to our attention the problems they suffered. It is a fast-paced novel, and Ms. Hart keeps us turning the pages to finally get to the happy ending. She is a good writer and her characters come alive on the pages. I would recommend this author and look forward to reading her next book.
