The Red Diary by Toni Blake

When Nick Armstrong finds the red diary, he’s shocked…and aroused. Here, in intimate detail, prim and proper Lauren Ash records her most secret fantasies. He knows he should never read it again, but the temptation is too hard to resist. Never before has he come across anything so private-or so sensual. Never before has he found such a potent weapon for righting an old wrong.

His strategy: seduce her, make her fall in love, then break her heart. He’ll be her dream lover in the flesh, weaving an erotic spell to free the passionate woman inside her. But Lauren is casting her own tantalizing magic, forcing him to let go of the past and surrender to her body and soul.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Ripped from the headlines: A book about a rich, but lonely, good girl heroine, who keeps a sexual fantasy journal hidden in her office that an admiring Adonis house painter just happens to find. Well, it's not exactly ripped from the headlines, but it's close enough to the famed Paris Hilton, and Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson tapes!

Naturally, when Nick Armstrong seduces Lauren Ash, he has to bring in some of those fantasy scenes without giving away the fact that he has read her diary. Or reveal who he really is, and what her father did to his years before. Oh, the best laid plans...

Though I had a few chuckles and a couple of heartfelt moments for Nick and his awful father, this one left my fantasy unfulfilled. I find the premise a bit too close to some of the scandals floating in the real world (though Lauren's never goes any further than Nick reading it), and I just can't dredge up the sympathy for a poor little rich girl with loose friends and no moxy. Oh, well, at least Lauren pulls herself together in the end and decides she needs to stop attending all those creepy socialite parties.
