I am going to be in suspense until I read the last book in this trilogy! I kept turning the pages hoping that someone, anyone, would realize that Celeste is poisoning Buck. Jace and Honor make a good couple, but I think this book focused more on the relationships between Buck, Honor, and Cal. The brother/sister relationship between Cal and Honor is so sweet. I am glad that they have each other since their father, Buck, is too taken with his young and deceitful wife to care what’s happening with his children. I was really glad that Walter Coburn died because he would never have stopped hunting Jace. Barbieri gave great descriptions of the antagonists Bellamy and Derek. Derek was just a disgusting human being and just the type of man someone like Celeste would want to align herself with. I really liked the supporting characters in this book—Mitch, Randy, and Big John really are ‘good ‘ol boys’, and along with Doc Maggie, they remind us that family is what and who we make it!
