THE ANGLOPHILE Author: Laurie Gwen Shapiro ISBN: 0373895291 8/2005 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: RED DRESS INK
THE ANGLOPHILE is a fun novel, especially for those who love all things British! Shari is doing her best to finish up work on her dissertation. She's a cute Jewish linguist, and loves anything or anyone British. Kit is British, and a linguist. Shari and Kit seem to hit it off well, but both have some issues to work through before they are ready for a serious relationship. Shari has some real issues with her rather unique family, while Kit has some baggage that points to a failed relationship. Readers will laugh, cry, and laugh some more with this one. I really enjoyed reading about Shari's family-Shapiro was very creative with their stories, especially Shari's brother, Alan, and her aunt, Dot. It was also nice to learn some British phrases that I had not heard before. Shapiro is the author of two other novels you might have read, MATZO BALL HEIRESS and THE UNEXPECTED SALAMI. Carrye Syma |
