THE LOVES OF A D-GIRL Author: Chris Dyer ISBN: 0452284929 5/2005 CHICK LIT Publisher: PLUME
THE LOVES OF A D-GIRL is a well-written novel that explores the life of Lizzie, a developmental director for a down-trodden producer. When she's dumped with a horrible script, she must work with the screenwriter to make it a hit. I enjoyed the plot's twists and turns that kept this novel from being too predictable. The author's witty dialogue and well-rounded characters are the bright spot in this novel. It's a quick read, and overall a fine story, though I was a bit put-off with Lizzie. Her "quickies" with various men and how little it affected her bothered me a bit. I don't mind the heroine having a relationship with someone other than the hero, but I do want it to be a relationship in the full sense of the word - not just someone she uses for sex. I would recommend this one only to dedicated fans of the chick-lit genre. Kendra Patterson |
