Blood Lust by J.M. Jeffries

Two hundred fifty year old vampire, Mignon Du Plessis, is hunting a rogue vampire. Ordered by the Vampire Tribunal to stop the bloody rampage, Mignon finds herself torn between old loyalties and a newfound love. New Orleans police detective Ryan Lattimore is on the trail of a serial killer who leaves bloodless bodies throughout his city. Determined to stop the killing, Ryan teams with the seductive, mysterious Mignon, and is plunged into a shadow world no human mortal knows exists. As the unlikely partners hunt the shadowy underworld of The Big Easy, Ryan and Mignon discover that love can transcend even the most hardened of hearts.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Move over Akasha, Queen of the Damned, there's a new vampire babe on the block.

The writing duo known as J.M. Jeffries has created one heck of a kick-ass character in BLOOD LUST's "good" vampire Mignon Du Plessis.

This multi-faceted female can be bad to the bloody bone when the need arises, but she is also compassionate and caring. Mignon's thirst for revenge is tempered by devotion to her mortal descendants and her career of hunting bad vampires.

Jeffries skillfully sprinkles chapters of Mignon's 250 plus years history into this contemporary to illustrate the shaping of her character—from a frightened slave into the confident, principled woman she has become.

Although, Mignon is the strength of Blood Lust, this story sparkles with some neat secondary characters, a refreshing, creative story line—including a new twist on the vampire myth—and a heavy dose of humor.

BLOOD LUST's hero, cute, funny cop Ryan Lattimore provides much of the comic relief—and the sexual tension—for this often gory story. Although he isn't as well-drawn as Mignon, he serves his purposes well. Together this romantic pair is dynamite.

Wickedly luscious, decadently funny, BLOOD LUST is a real treat. This fast paced, lively tale sucks a reader right in and never lets go.
