No treatment has been effective in treating Samantha Bennett's clinical
depression; which is why she decides to undergo a radical, experimental procedure.
During the procedure, her heart stops momentarily and her soul travels back in time
-- 250 years, the year 1745, where her former incarnation, Jayna Conroy, lies on a
remote beach on the Isle of Skye. Jayna is dying after a desperate escape attempt
from her captivity aboard ship with the infamous pirate Shoale. The influx of
Samantha's spirit gives Jayna the needed energy to live and to continue her escape.
1745 is a time of upheaval for the Scots as 'bonnie Prince Charlie' tries to reclaim
the throne of Scotland. This is the backdrop as Jayna finds her way to the
MacAndrews clan and into the life of Mackenzie MacAndrews, head of the clan. Jayna
and Mac discover a passion neither of them has ever known before. Despite the
complications of the time, they revel in their newfound love and attempt to build a
life together -- but Shoale has every intention of reclaiming what belongs to him. |
RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
If you like soul-jumping from one time period to another,
you'll like JAYNA INCARNATE. I liked it because I like Jane Shoup's writing. She
always creates a good story with likable heroines, especially lovable heroes, and
fully-developed characters. Apparently this book was written around actual events in
the 1700's. So, if you're a history buff as well as a soul-jumping enthusiast, well
then, I recommend this book to you.
