Out of the Night by Robin T. Popp

Lanie Weber isn't afraid of danger. As a volunteer firefighter, this seemingly mild-mannered librarian has faced life-or-death situations before - and survived. But she has no idea what's waiting for her in the dark Amazon jungles.in the staring eyes of a mysterious statue.and in the strong arms of a seductive stranger.

Veteran pilot Mac Knight has vowed to help Lanie find out what has happened to her scientist father. But at Dr. Weber's secret research lab, they find only five dead bodies - and a creature believed to live solely in legends. The nightmare, however, is real. When Mac is attacked and bitten, Lanie fights to keep him alive. When he presses his lips to her throat, she yields to his touch. And when his teeth graze her flesh, she hungers for more...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

OUT OF THE NIGHT is first paranormal that I have ever read, and I have to say that I found it fascinating. I was so impressed by the amount of depth and sensuality that was put into these characters. Mac and Lanie are beautiful, and while flawed, I found their romance bold and seductive. I love how in charge Mac seems to be at all times and how Lanie is there to comfort him and make him see reason when he is not. These two people compliment each other in every way throughout every page of the book; they took from each other and gave to each other in a way that had me holding my breath and crying tears of pain and joy with them.

Mac is a perfect protector who drew me in from the very beginning. He is a no-crap-taking kind of guy who is not afraid to barge into a room full of dead bodies with a gun ready to take out any person in his path. He acknowledges that Lanie is smart and beautiful, treating her with respect because of who she is, not how she looks. It is extremely entertaining to watch Mac play the Alpha male in a room full of men gaping at Lanie, showing his possessive manner, which he doesn't once apologize for.

Lanie's character is extremely well written. She is beautiful, strong and not about to hide behind a man for any reason. She will willingly risk her life for the man she loves. Not to mention that Lanie is loyal to a fault and has a wonderful sense of humor that shows itself at the strangest, most inopportune moments.

Ms. Popp has gained an avid fan in me through OUT OF THE NIGHT. I am eagerly awaiting her next novel in this series, STILL OF THE NIGHT.
