Savage Vision by Cassie Edwards

She was as elusive as the legendary deer he was hunting—a creature of mist and shadow, there one moment and gone the next. Like his quarry, her skin glowed white as moonlight, but her hair was scarlet and she showed no fear at his approach. And when he laid eyes on her, Chief Hawke knew she must be his.

From her first sight of the shadowy ship with its tattered sails, Scarlett knew it meant trouble. And when its lunatic captain forced her aboard, her despair knew no bounds She could hardly believe her eyes when the stunningly handsome Indian she'd met just once appeared to save her. Chief of the Texas Cougar Clan, Hawke was forbidden to her, but as his dark gaze burned into hers, she knew it would be impossible to resist this… SAVAGE VISION

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

SAVAGE VISION is right in line with the other Savage books that Cassie Edwards has written. They are interesting and fast paced, with a good plot and likeable characters.

From the onset of the book, I knew that Chief Hawke was going to be a phenomenal character and I was right. He is good looking, loyal and kind, protective of the people he loves and sensitive to the people around him. He loves Scarlett immensely and will do anything for her, even risk his own life to save her from pirates, regardless of the fact that she is white and he is an Indian. And then there is the little fact that her father has forbidden him to even look at her, or he will see Hawke hanged.

Scarlett is beautiful, loving, and kindhearted, with not a bone of prejudice in her body. I love that she can see Hawke for who he is, and not once does she think of him just as an Indian. From the get go, she sees him as a kind man, and that is one of the things that draws her to him. She is not a shallow person at all and allows herself to be led into the Cougar village, embracing their people wholeheartedly. She is a great character and very well rounded.

The only beef that I had with this story is that everything seemed to happen in fast forward. Scarlett had only seen Hawke twice, only one time of which she actually had spoken to him, and...Voila! All of the sudden, she is in love with him, even to the point of saying that she would love him for eternity! That was a bit of a stretch for me. That was the only little teensy problem that I had with the book. If perhaps Ms. Edwards had slowed down the L factor until at least the h/h had one decent full length conversation, I would have been that much more happy with this book.
