Dark Roots and Cowboy Boots by LuAnn McLane

NOTJUSTANOTHER SMALL-TOWN BABE...

Teetering on the Tennessee border, Hootertown, Kentucky, suits beautician Jamie Lee Carter just fine. She's the kind of gal who prefers longneck beers to cosmos, bare feet to high heels, and Daisy Dukes to Prada, but a bit of flash might still win out over another pool-hall line dance. That's where Parker Carrington, a hunky Hollywood producer, comes in....

NOTJUSTANOTHER SATURDAY NIGHT FLING...

He's pegged Hootertown as an ideal movie site—and Jamie as more than a sexy extra. He's adding sizzle to Jamie's romantic slump and firing up something called jealousy in Griff Sheldon, Jamie's brother's best friend and her longtime crush. Now two hot-blooded rivals are going head-to-head. One's got a jaguar. One's got a pickup. And only one's got what it takes to give Jamie the ride of her life.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

LuAnn McLane's new release is called DARK ROOTS AND COWBOY BOOTS! Get ready to pop open a cold one, turn on some George Strait and put on those old cowboy boots that are stuffed in the back of your closet. This book is more exciting than riding the mechanical bull on full speed at the local bar!

I had a great time reading this book. McLane knows how to write my kind of man! Hardworking, handsome, sensitive, protective and positively jealous—those attributes will hold my attention throughout a book. Throw in a cowboy hat, tight jeans and a ripped body, and I'm totally taken in!

Jamie Lee Carter's romantic life is about to take a significant turn for the better. Not only will she have Parker, the Hollywood producer who wants to film a movie in her small town, but also Griff Sheldon, Jamie Lee's longtime crush, wanting to make the moves on her. Although Parker is sophisticated and attractive, she can't seem to get good ol' cowboy Griff out of her heart and mind.

The situations Jamie Lee manages to get herself into are just too funny. I personally like the belt buckle ordeal the best! The occasions when Jamie Lee is trying to make Griff take notice of her are especially comical.

Not only that, but every character in DARK ROOTS AND COWBOY BOOTS is unforgettable. My favorite character is Irma, a spunky older lady who has the best one-liners in the book. There's Macy, Jamie Lee's more than curvaceous best friend and business associate. Macy has a huge crush on Jamie Lee's brother, Luke. Luke is another sexy and sensitive cowboy. Let's not forget Jamie Lee's ever so prim and proper mother. She's more than willing to stick her nose in where it doesn't belong! McLane did a fantastic job creating just the right characters for this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed DARK ROOTS AND COWBOY BOOTS. It is a keeper on my bookshelf, and hopefully it will be on yours!
