NERDS LIKE IT HOT Author: Vicki Lewis Thompson ISBN: 0312939086 8/2006 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: ST. MARTIN'S PRESS
If ever I need a book to make me laugh and take me away to another place, with great characters and a lively story, I know that I am looking for a Vicki Lewis Thompson book. She continually surprises me with her depth of imagination and great writing skills. She can take a relatively boring cruise full of nerdy people and make it a hoot that, at times, had me laughing so hard I had to put the book down for a second! NERDS LIKE IT HOT is a wonderful addition to Ms. Thompson's Nerd series, and stands up nicely with its cast of colorful and somewhat odd characters that, nevertheless, found their way into my heart along the way. Gillian McCormick is in big trouble. She has seen the murder of a man and was identified, and is now being chased by the mob. Her only possible respite from being brutally punished is for her to hop onboard a nerd cruise and leave the country, before the goons can find her. The only problem is, she has no idea how to set such a wild plan in motion. She enlists the aid of her longtime friend, Cora, to help her change her identity and get her the heck out of dodge! Cora, in turn, enlists the aid of her two favorite P.I's, Lex and Dante, to keep Gillian safe on her trip out of the country. Lex is so incredibly hot, he could have sizzled the pages right out of my hand. He is a tough guy with a great cocky attitude and it is, hands down, the funniest thing having Gillian knock him down to size. He is great as a protector, and even better as a lover, and before long he and Gillian are involved in some serious lovemaking while trying to wait out the mob and get to a safe shore some distance away. What ensues is the utter chaos and delectable fun that I have come to expect from a Vicki Lewis Thompson book. Fans of her Nerd series will not be disappointed with NERDS LIKE IT HOT, and others that are just tuning in will love seeing Ms. Thompson at her best! Kristal Gorman |
