Jaxine Daniels has written quite the masterpiece with PROMISE TO BELIEVE. There is such an interesting plot line that from the very first page of the book, I did not want to put it down. Griffin Leroy has no idea why, on her wedding day, something has drawn her to a cemetery in New Orleans. She has no idea why the very sight of the grave makes her weep and the inscription on the tombstone brings her to her knees. Why today of all days? She hears a man's voice telling her to wait for him, and yet no one is there. She sees a man standing next to her soon-to-be-husband at the altar, and yet when she blinks, he is gone again. So confused and yet feeling like she is on the brink of something wonderful, Griffin calls off her wedding and lets life take her where it will. And even though she finds herself falling in love with this elusive man who she knows, even though she has never seen him, she can't stop, she can't let it go until all of the pieces fall into place. Mark Dupree has waited for almost twenty years for Griffin Leroy. Finally, everything he has dreamed of, his destiny, his very reason for living is coming to pass. The love that has been lying in wait for more than 60 years can finally find its heart again. All he has to do is break through to her. Once he has contact with Griffin, once he can convince her to wait for him, it is just a matter of time before they can actually meet. Even though he has never seen her, he knows that he will know her immediately; his very soul will recognize her. What makes PROMISE TO BELIEVE so great is the premise of the book. When Mad Dog died during WWII, he told his Rose not to wait for him. Rose doesn't listen and together they wait for the perfect moment in time for their love to live on. It is beautiful and terribly romantic, and brought tears to my eyes. Jaxine Daniels has written a keeper with PROMISE TO BELIEVE, and romance lovers of all genres will be missing out on something great if they do not give this one a try. Kristal Gorman |
