JACOB Author: Jacquelyn Frank ISBN: 0821780654 12/2006 PARANORMAL Publisher: KENSINGTON/ZEBRA
What sets JACOB apart from most of the paranormals running around out there is the unique theory that humans practicing magic by summoning demons is what makes those demons mean and nasty. When left to their own devices, demons closely resemble humans and are gifted with powers of the earth and elements. I find that theory to be very cool, and that is definitely what draws me to this new line of books about The Nightwalkers. Not only is the main plot enjoyable, but so are the characters, especially the mysterious healer, Gideon, and the librarian-turned-Enforcer heroine, Isabella. And I certainly cannot forget Jacob, since he isn't too shabby either. Man, can he make me envision his sexy demon side! Though I can spot similar themes to Christine Feehan's Dark series in JACOB, I still really find it to be quite a fresh and intriguing read. Shannon Johnson |
