THE MODEL MAN Author: Genie Davis ISBN: 082177977X 1/2006 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: KENSINGTON/Zebra
With two engaging—though definitely flawed—lead characters, a nicely crafted suspense and some kooky secondary characters, THE MODEL MAN is pretty hard to resist. Although most everything about this story is offbeat, it strikes the right chord. Ms. Davis strives for a breezy tone, but THE MODEL MAN is skillfully layered. Underneath the glitter of a superficial, glamorous Hollywood, this lighthearted tale delves into the un-success stories of Tinsel Town. Christy Harris—fake psychic, skilled liar and sometime thief—is the perfect vehicle to narrate THE MODEL MAN. The zany Christy, whose dream of making it in Hollywood has never been realized, is a well-sketched and often touching character. Pair her with a hunky, "tingle-maker" Joe Richter and readers are treated to a really endearing love story. A love story filled with gobs and gobs of sexual tension. Ms. Davis captures perfectly Christy and Joe's romance. From instant sexual awareness to deeper heart-felt emotions, this pair's romance is superbly drawn. THE MODEL MAN is a well-written, fast-moving charmer. A charmer I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Debbie Jett |
