Around the Next Corner by Elizabeth Wren

For Deena Munger, the transformation to underappreciated housewife was subtle and gradual. Not that she didn't love her family dearly, but Deena was starting to wonder: When did I disappear? And how come I never even noticed?

Then one day she stuns her family by volunteering to raise a puppy for K-9 Eyes for the Blind. Suddenly, Deena's once-stable life is turned upside down. And, it turns out, this rambunctious, impulsive ball of fur could actually be the damage control she needs to save her family, her marriage, and her self.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

I almost didn't give this book a Top Pick, not because the author isn't a wonderful writer, and not because the story isn't intriguing, but because it's one of the most distressful books I've read lately. The heroine believes she's invisible and undesirable. Her husband and children ignore her, she's overweight, and on and on.

But, there's this wonderful dog . . .

Have you ever read that in a review? I think not, you'll only get that here at Romance Reader at Heart!

Anyway, the conclusion of AROUND THE NEXT CORNER turns everything just right and it was worth all the heartache and invisibility and cellulite. I loved it. It's a keeper. So, pick it up and hang in there. You won't be sorry.
