I Went to Vassar for This?

How exactly did a microwave mishap blast a hip and sassy modern-day Manhattanite back to 1959? Cathy Voorhees has no idea. But even without her trusty PalmPilot, she’s going sort everything out:

REASONS TO STAY REASONS TO GO
(if I knew how)
1. These clothes give me a killer figure 1. Two words: granny panties

2. I can change history—save JFK, end racism, break the glass ceiling! 2. The only history you know is from VH1

3. At least here I don't have to work for a short-sighted fuddy-duddy anymore. 3. Yes, now you have a boss who thinks goosing is appropriate office behavior.

4. I wish our landlord would goose me. He's dreamy. 4. Maybe if you wow him with predictions of the future, he'll at least ask you out.

5. Or commit me to an institution. 5. Oooh, padded walls could be fun...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

When Cathy Voorhees is thrown back in time to 1959, she has no idea what is going on. All she knows is that she is wearing funny clothes and making a lousy couple of bucks a week for a full time job, and that she has none of her modern conveniences, such as a cell phone or cable TV! She thinks she has an idea of how she got here, but has no way of getting back home. Worse yet is the idea that once she does get home, she will have to leave all of her new found friends and the one man that can make her heart skip a beat, Hank Cabot.

I pictured Hank as a big, bulky lug of a lovable guy, saying the sweetest things and trying like heck to understand this crazy woman who has just dropped into his life, talking about laptop computers and women's rights. He has total moments of alpha male-ism, but they don't last long. He lets Cathy do her thing and is there to hold her when things get tough. I love that in a man.

I WENT TO VASSAR FOR THIS? is a hilariously funny romp of a good time, and I will never forget the wonderful lead characters and the whole gang of secondary characters that literally made this book come to life.
