MAKE NO PROMISES by Charlotte Maclay is a surprisingly good book. I say that because it's not the type of book I would normally choose to read. But, boy, I'm glad I chose to read it! It's filled with action, adventure and some hot romance! Taylor Travini is a kick-butt type of heroine. She's got a black belt in karate and she's not afraid to protect herself. She's as beautiful as she is independent and daring. When she realizes her twin bother, Terry, is missing, she hops a plane to Chile to find him. Taylor has no idea that she's in for a dangerous and deadly adventure. Someone is out to kill her, she's already been thrown in a filthy jail, and to make matters worse, no one is willing to give her any information about the disappearance of her brother. Lucky for her she meets Rafe Maguire. Rafe Maguire is definitely the rugged and very manly hero. I wouldn't mind him protecting me! He's a retired Army Ranger who gets paid to train men to fight for the Chilean Army. As his luck would have it, he happens to be having a couple of drinks inside the same bar as Taylor. Noticing that Taylor is in real danger from mobsters, he helps her escape the bar and takes her back to his apartment to find out what she's doing in this unsavory part of town. He reluctantly finds himself helping her on her on her quest to find her brother. The chemistry between Rafe and Taylor is sizzling. Rafe finds her to be beautiful right from the first time he sees her in the bar. Of course, Taylor can't help noticing how masculine he is. Thrown together by chance, they succumb to their lust. Any chance of ever being together is going to have to wait until they can track down Terry and be safely at home. MAKE NO PROMISES by Charlotte Maclay is a great read. It's got everything to keep your attention and keep turning the pages. It's a great combination of romance, action and mystery! Julie Kornhausl |
