Shadow of the Moon by Rebecca York

Lance Marshall has a nose for great news stories. It's not surprising, since his werewolf abilities allow him to move with greater speed and stealth than any human. Now he's on the prowl outside an ultra-exclusive Washington, D.C. nightclub—"The Castle"—a heavily protected building within a forested park. But he is not alone. There is someone else in the woods who wants to get inside the secretive club.

Savannah Carpenter's sister lies in a coma—and Savannah knows that the mysterious goings-on in The Castle have something to do with it. Her wild sister had visited the club several times to partake in some erotic—and dangerous—fun and games, and Savannah wants answers. To get them, she joins forces with Lance, and the two pretend to be lovers to gain entrance.

But the raw passion that arises between them is anything but an act. And the closer they get to each other, the closer they get to uncovering the truth—and the monstrous evil that lies in the heart of The Castle....

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

SHADOW OF THE MOON is a soft-core porn story with dialogue to match. Why it's a paranormal is beyond me, since most of it deals with S & M activities. Actually, it might have been a better read had it just been a contemporary erotica. With stinted conversations between the characters, little chemistry and a ludicrous plot, I can barely summon up anything nice to say about this one.

The hero is a werewolf reporter that doesn't do anything cool with his powers except scare off a security guard. The heroine isn't much better. She even admits her backbone is broken, but decides to investigate her sister's "supposed" accident that took place in a park next to the S & M club I mentioned earlier, anyway. The two of them together have weird conversations that perplex me, but yet they hit the sack with the greatest of ease. They have kinky sex under the guise of proving they can gain admittance to the club. Yeah, right! Most of the side characters have the same type of raunchy fun, so if you like that sort of thing I guess this read might appeal to you.

I really don't care for this book at all. No offense to the author, but it's like she crammed every weird item she could into this one in order to make it something. The result is pure overkill. When you combine dumb characters, paranormal factors, a space alien villain, and nasty whip and chain type sex, you are bound to over do it.
