For the past year, self-proclaimed Black American Princess Claudia has been planning her perfect wedding, destined to be the event in Atlanta's black society. But when her prince gets cold feet, she's stunned and humiliated. She's done things in the bedroom with this man that her mother would disown her for!
Annelise is frustrated. How long can a woman go without getting some from her husband? The man she's supported through law school, who she signed a prenup for. But it seems the man who used to want it all the time is still getting it...from another woman.
Thank goodness their devotedly single friend Lishelle has a couch to spare. But when The Guy Who Got Away in college reappears in her life, she starts envisioning a walk down the aisle. Ignoring her friends' advice, she agrees to guarantee his bank loans for a new business. A girl's got to invest in her future husband, right? But once he gets his hands on her money, he disappears.
Then Claudia discovers that her commitment-shy ex is engaged to a rival debutante—one whose parents could advance his career. Annelise starts to suspect that her husband's bankruptcy claims are just a smoke screen so she won't challenge the measly prenup payment. And after a little digging, Lishelle learns that the jerk who left her broke is already married. As the scorned friends bitch over a bottle of wine, an idea takes shape—letting these weasels slink quietly out of their lives is too good for them.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
GETTING EVEN is one wild ride! After reading the back cover information above, you pretty much know the entire plot from start to finish, so this novel's enjoyment is in the journey, not in unexpected twists and turns. But there is considerable enjoyment to be found. It is a solid read that you can sink your teeth into, but reads very quickly.
Claudia, Annelise and Lishelle are three college friends who are in that turning thirty time of life. All three are affluent members of Atlanta society and are in and out of relationships with difficult men. I really felt sorry for them—there didn't seem to be anything wrong with them—they just had the collective worst luck in love. Keep in mind that this is not a romance novel! As a friendship novel however, it can't be beat.
This book is very sexually explicit, but even though I tend to be a bit squeamish, I thought the eroticism was handled extremely well.
Perrin is an author who belongs on your must read list. Don't miss GETTING EVEN!
