THE TEXAS SOLUTION Author: Mary Eason ISBN: NA 5/2006 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: BY GRACE PUBLISHING
Mary Eason's newest book, THE TEXAS SOLUTION, is about how far one man will go to get what he wants and the people he may hurt along the way. Drake Everette's goal is to be governor of Texas and he'll stop at nothing to attain that goal. He plans on acting engaged to an influential young woman in the hope of boosting his popularity. There's just one problem—three, really. They come in the forms of his long time girlfriend, his headstrong cousin, and the girl at the center of it all, Grace. Grace Richmond has two things going for her: her political popularity and the crush she has on Drake. Unfortunately, Drake is going to use those to gain support for his election. All Grace has to do is pose as Drake's fiancé and when he wins the election, they can have an amiable break up. Nobody gets hurt, right? Wrong. Alec Standing, Drake's cousin, is absolutely disgusted with his scheme. Especially once he meets extremely vulnerable Grace. Alec can't help protecting her against Drake's scheme. It's starting to appear that Drake may not get what he wants after all. Jackie Rodriguez, Drake's girlfriend, is unhappy (to say the least) with Drake's plan and she is only going along with it because of her deep feelings for him. She understands that her father's reputation, and the fact that he's in jail, will hinder Drake's reputation and, in turn, his chances at being elected. As much as it hurts her to not be in the spotlight with him, she knows it's for the best. What happens when Drake's oh-so-perfect plan begins to backfire? THE TEXAS SOLUTION is an interesting read. Ms. Eason combined politics and romance into this story and it worked out very well. Julie Kornhausl |
