DARK DREAMERS Author: Christine Feehan and Marjorie M. Liu ISBN: 0843956879 9/2006 PARANORMAL Publisher: LEISURE
Never thought I would say it, but Christine Feehan has met her match in the paranormal writing world. Marjorie M. Liu is positively brilliant. Her writing jumps off the page and her dialogue is amazing. So much so that she is the shining star in DARK DREAMERS and Feehan is a nice, but completely unnecessary addition. The only reason this book is not a Top Pick is because I really didn't care for the Feehan story. I feel I have to rate the entire book, not just one part of it, so despite the fact that I love Carpathian men, this story features the same old, same old. It's not bad, just redundant. Liu's story soars. It's touching and heartbreaking, but still manages to border on the bizarre. Liu must have the imagination working overtime to come up with the outrageous characters and scenes she creates and still keep it grounded. The banter and wit between the players is unlike anything else I have read, and I truly look forward to her work. If you are a Feehan lover and don't care about the sameness of this latest story, then you won't mind this one. But, be prepared. Liu will knock your socks off! Shannon Johnson |
