Divine Madness by Melanie Jackson

Down a dirt road that might have been a relic from the days of Cortez, Seraphina Sandoval fled her past. She was not often afraid, and never without reason. But someone in her position could trust no one—not even the sublime stranger she met on her way. The Comte de St. Germain had been beautiful. Lucifer had been, too.

No, Seraphina could ill afford to trust. When the Dark Man had found her in Paris, she’d been someone else, and she had bartered her soul no realizing the manner of its collection. All good things come to an end, and she had spent centuries on the run. She and her cat had ended here: Mexico—an arid land of ancient rites and vampires; and in the arms of a man with a past more bizarre than her own, a man whose eyes vowed joyous oblivion. It would be madness to trust, to believe in a union for the ages, but she had only moments to decide: leave, or take the ride Fate offered. She’d always been one for a ride.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

This one is too weird, even for me. Surprising, I know, but that is just how it is.

It is not only weird with the descriptions and characters, but with the writing as well. For instance, there are too many half ideas, as if the author knew what she meant when she wrote the paragraph, but forgot to actually write it all down. There are too many half sex scenes as well. They start out all tingling and engaging, but the actual act is only described in one sentence as rough. Weird.

Anyway, the hardest part for me is that the hero is a form of vampire that has a scorpion tail attached to the underside of his tongue! I don't care how sexy he is supposed to be—a scorpion tongue is just downright nasty! Give me a set of retractable fangs any day, thank you.

I will chalk DIVINE MADNESS up to slightly fascinating but still a tad disappointing, considering how much I liked DIVINE FIRE. But, at least I didn't need my dictionary to review this one like I did DIVINE FIRE!
