Knight's Prize by Sarah McKerrigan

She certainly seems meek and soft-spoken, unlike her warrior sisters. But once the sun goes down, Miriel of Rivenloch becomes "The Shadow," the bold, mysterious renegade who robs the rich to give to the poor. But can she outwit the devil-may-care mercenary Sir Rand la Nuit, who has been hired to unmask The Shadow?

Miriel doesn't know Rand's mission—only that his sudden, amorous courtship is hiding something. Rand doesn't know who The Shadow is—only that the lovely woman in his arms heats his blood. Touch by silky touch, kiss by sizzling kiss, the stakes—and their passions—mount. And once Rand and Miriel disrobe in his bedchamber, both can lose everything they live for—including their oh-so-vulnerable hearts.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

KNIGHT'S PRIZE is the third and final installment of the Warrior Maids series. It features the youngest of the three sisters, Miriel. She is perceived as the weakest of them, and completely lacking in the fighting spirit and skills her older sisters inherited from their Viking father.

Fortunately for Miriel (and the readers), this perception is wrong. In fact, Miriel has been trained in Chinese warfare by her maidservant since she was 13 years old. Her tutor believes the greatest weapon is the one no one knows you possess, so Muriel has kept her skills a secret from everyone. When the handsome knight, Sir Rand, comes to Rivenloch falsely claiming he and Miriel have met before and that he has come to court her, Miriel does not want or need her sisters' protection. And she doesn't want them to chase him off, at least not until she finds out what his true purpose in Rivenloch is.

Sir Rand is a paid mercenary who has come to Rivenloch to find and capture the elusive outlaw known only as The Shadow. But when he sets eyes upon Miriel, he realizes catching the outlaw may not be the only prize he is after in Rivenloch.

The action and adventure set in Medieval Scotland immediately sweeps the reader away. It is the perfect backdrop for a passionate romance and thrilling tale of knights in shining armor. It's great fun watching the sisters do some butt kicking themselves, and even save a knight or two on their own. I have read the first two books, so I was happy that the main characters of those novels appear in KNIGHT'S PRIZE as well.

Ms. McKerrigan gives her readers men that can melt your bones, and women that you can admire. She is definitely a new author that should be added to your must read list—she has definitely been added to mine! I look forward to whatever is next on the horizon for this fantastic storyteller. Happy reading!
