McKettrick's Heart by Linda Lael Miller

Keegan McKettrick has learned the hard way that women can't be trusted. The only female in his life these days is the young daughter he sees all too rarely, and his sole passion is for his job overseeing his family's corporation. Until beautiful but mysterious Molly Shields arrives in Indian Rock on a mission and keeping a suspicious eye on her becomes Keegan's full-time hobby...

Molly doesn't know why she's attracted to a man who's determined to dig up dirt on her, even if he is gorgeous. But cynical Keegan might be the one person who can truly understand her shadowy past—and if the two can risk opening their hearts, they just might forge a brighter future.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

The last book in the modern day McKettrick men trilogy is both wonderful and bittersweet for me. Being a ridiculously huge fan of the McKettrick's since the first time that I picked up one of their books, I was sad to see this one ending. Luckily, this trilogy could not have gone out with a better bang as we get Keegan's and Molly's story. Of the three—and it is a pretty tough call—I would have to say that McKETTRICK'S HEART is my favorite of the trilogy.

Keegan gets my vote for Sexy Man 2007. He has loved Psyche for years and now she is dying and her husband's mistress has come to town. Keegan wants to break things, he wants to destroy Molly and her evil plans... he wants to kiss her senseless. And that last he wants to do more than any of the others, which terrifies and confuses him to no end. But maybe, just maybe, things aren't what they seem. Maybe Molly isn't the gold digging home wrecker that Keegan pegs her to be.

Molly has been called by Psyche to come to her. Psyche desperately needs to see her and she has no idea why. As a matter of fact, she almost declines, but then she would be giving up her chance to see the son that she left behind. For that she will risk the fires of hell, even if those fires come in the form of Keegan McKettrick.

Ms. Miller has once again created a masterpiece. I was left breathless by the ending to this book. I read through tear filled eyes as Keegan and Molly's relationship was put through test after test. And one test, the biggest of them all, threatened to consume them both.

From reading the McKettrick books, I would have to be blind not to see how much Linda Lael Miller loves these characters. Each word that is written is like a story of an actual event—that is how real these characters become in these books. McKETTRICK'S HEART will go onto my "Linda Lael Miller" shelf to be revisited time and again along with all of its ancestors.
