The Belles Dames Club by Melinda Hammond

Miss Clarissa Wyckenham comes to London to join her pretty step-mama and finds that Mama-Nell has formed a discreet club for ladies. Soon she is pitched headlong into the deliciously wicked antics of the Belles Dames Club and finds herself in conflict with the disapproving Lord Alresford.

A sparkling comedy of romance and adventure set at the end of the eighteenth century.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

I am still attempting to understand this story. It has the main drama that a girl meets a guy in Regency England and, well, for lack of a better word, falls in lust with him. I had an extremely difficult time reading this book. For me, it was similar to reading erotica with restrictions on it, a bad analogy I know. But the storyline just did not flow for me, and I felt like I needed to take notes to keep up with all of the Lords and Ladies.

On another note, outside of the writing, the cover art of this book is not the least bit appealing. If I were searching for a book, I would pass right over this novel.

I am sure Hammond has past books that are fabulous, but THE BELLES DAMES CLUB just left a bad taste in my mouth and wanting more.
