Anise is trouble

Ryne is a magical troubleshooter, sworn to protect the innocent from being harmed by magic—and she's been chasing Anise, her former mentor, for six years.

Deke is a private investigator who knows something key to defeating Anise. But Anise cast a dark spell over him, and even though Ryne has managed to temporarily lift the curse, Deke can't remember what it is that he knows.

Ryne has sworn to never get involved with a human, but Deke is sexy, charming, brave, and irresistible—and as Ryne and Deke are pulled further into Anise's evil schemes, it's harder and harder for Ryne to resist the attraction.

But dark magic has its own attraction, and in order to defeat Anise and lift Deke's curse permanently, Ryne will have to risk following in Anise's footsteps and succumbing to the lure of the darkness.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Ryne is searching for her mentor, Anise. Ryne is sworn to protect the innocent from magic and searching for Anise means that she is protecting the innocent. However, Deke, who is a private investigator, is also hot on the tracks for Anise. Deke believes he is the only person who can defeat Anise. Ryne and Deke team up together to defeat Anise. But, while searching for Anise, Deke and Ryne find themselves fighting the attraction that is growing between them.

Patti O'Shea delivers a gripping, tale full of suspense, danger, and attraction. IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR is a true enjoyment to read and has twists and turns that are true to the paranormal element of the story. This was my first Patti O'Shea book and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a quick read for me. I would recommend this novel to others, especially those new to the paranormal genre.
