'SCUSE ME WHILE I KILL THIS GUY Author: Leslie Langtry ISBN: 0843959339 8/2007 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: MAKING IT!
This novel is an absolute blast! As I have never read Leslie Langtry before I didn't know what to expect while reading her novel. As I was reading the synopsis, the bottom of the book stated it would appeal to Janet Evanovich and Katie MacAlister fans. I am a huge fan of both of those authors, so I was really hyped about reading 'SCUSE ME WHILE I KILL THIS GUY. Gin Bombay is a widower, a single mom, a daisy troop leader and... an assassin. She comes from a family of a long line of assassins that date back centuries. While in a Border's bookstore, she encounters Diego, a hot Australian bodyguard and the sparks fly. They talk for hours and arrange a dinner date for the next night. In the meantime, Gin gets an order to assassinate a man who is selling U.S. secrets to another country. While she takes care of business, her life is in disorder—her daughter is turning five and must begin her assassin training, she has a family reunion and a Daisy meeting. Diego and Gin begin dating and the sexual chemistry between the two is steaming. Gin receives another order to assassinate a man who is also selling secrets to a foreign country, but this man is the client that Diego is protecting. She is clueless as to how to terminate this man, when he shows up at her door unexpectedly stating that he knows who she is and what she does. She does her thing with knitting needles and leaves his dead body on her floor when Diego shows up suddenly at her house, looking for his client. She dodges him and calls her family in to help with the disposal of the body. From this point on, the novel takes turns and twists that leave Gin and Diego at odds in their relationship, and finds Gin facing a mole in her family. Langtry's novel was absolutely fascinating for me! While I was shocked at first to be reading about a normal female assassin, I found her to be a strong-willed, modern woman who deeply loves her family. The novel is full of laughter and has just enough adventure and sexual creation to keep the reader guessing until the end of the book. I loved this book! In fact, I am hoping there is going to be another installment to 'SCUSE ME WHILE I KILL THIS GUY. Kym Oetting |
