A Slice of Summer by Hamby, Claymore

Star Kissed by Laura Hamby

Helena Read wants more than a Miss Dairy Farm '95 crown in life. She forsakes Nebraska for Sunrise Beach, Delaware, where a fortuneteller's insight leaves her scoffing in disbelief. That is, until she meets her new room mate, Hugh Franklyn. Hugh just might be able to prove that love can be star kissed.

Moon Struck by Mary Claymore

Courtney Monroe's only expectation for the summer was helping her grandparents fix up their new fixer-upper. What she didn't count on was hitting a giant dog, meeting a sexy veterinarian, and hearing a Tarot reader predict wedding bells and babies. Poppy-Cock! Wedding bells and babies?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

A SLICE OF SUMMER is just plain fun. A fast, entertaining reading, this is the perfect volume to pop into an E-book reader and take to the beach. I enjoyed every moment of reading this. Both stories have intriguing characters and solid plots, and if contemporary romance appeals to you, this little gem is for you.

Star Kissed by Laura Hamby seems, at first, to be light and almost fluffy. It begins with Helena visiting a psychic, something so many do on a whim when passing one of those gaily striped, mysterious psychic's tents. But Madame Olwyna is more than a fly-by-night, take-a-dollar-and-dash entertainer, and when she eerily discusses fate and doles out advice to a man whose past haunts him, the story gets even more interesting.

Moon Struck by Mary Claymore is a sweet story about a woman, a baby blue Porsche and a monstrously huge dog she manages to hit as she's on her way to her granny's house. Sound interesting? It is, especially when a handsome vet comes into the picture. I enjoyed this story as much as I enjoyed the first one. As I said, this is a swift read, entertaining and amusing. Both stories have a beachy feel which is perfectly appropriate for the season, although they're so well written they'll be appreciated anytime of year.
