At the Edge by Cait London

Claire, Tempest, and Leona: triplets blessed—or cursed—each with a special extra sense that they would deny, given the chance . . .

Claire, the youngest, finds solitude and escape in rural Montana. The descendant of an ancient Celtic seer, she struggles to conceal her unsettling power to sense what others feel—the good and the evil, the pain and the joy.

When her peace is shattered by her new neighbor, Neil Olafson, Claire's shielded emotions start simmering. He's the opposite of everything she's ever wanted, a man who ignites her latent sensuality. And while her eerie powers have frightened others away, Neil isn't running. When Claire comes face-to-face with danger, he becomes her protector—as well as her lover.

Now, Claire and Neil must confront the past and save the life of a young innocent. But there is a killer lurking in the background who wants them both dead before they can unravel his dirty secrets. And he's been very busy. . . .

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Cait London's AT THE EDGE is a wonderful book to kick off your summer with! With great characters, a heavy plot full of interesting little twists and likable, unforgettable characters, this book is definitely the book for paranormal lovers!

Claire is one of three sisters with paranormal abilities. She is an empath and can feel other people's emotions. Not only can she feel their emotions, their feelings can become her own—which can be extremely dangerous. She can literally absorb someone else's feelings like a sponge. Because of this gift that she has, coupled with a really bad experience five years ago, Claire decides that it is best to live on a beautiful stretch of Montana that is quiet, remote, and out of the way with only one little old lady around as a neighbor. In this way she can live a peaceful, undisturbed life and not have to worry about anyone else's emotions. Fortunately, fate has other plans for Claire in the form of one hunk-a-licious man.

When the little old lady, better known as Aunt Eunice, dies, her gorgeous, hunky grandson, Neil, moves in with a vengeance and immediately starts driving Claire crazy—and he does it on purpose. Not only does he have a gazillion loud, noisy people at his house, he is not content to leave Claire alone. She is a conundrum to him in so many ways, and for some reason he just wants to be near her. He is always waving through the window or hollering for her to come over and have some food. He can't quite put his finger on why, but the little hermit next door really gets him going. When he comes home one night to find her door wide open and Claire injured in the middle of the floor, he knows that he will never leave her alone now. Claire is a hermit no longer, because Neil has no intentions of letting her be hurt again and he is determined to help her figure out who would want her dead.

AT THE EDGE is a wonderfully satisfying read on every level. Though Claire can be a bit bull headed and Neil as stubborn as an old goat, there is a great chemistry there and we get to watch a beautiful relationship take hold. With the addition of Claire's very unique family, this story couldn't have been better!
