Okay, let me begin my review by just giving the facts straight out. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book, the entire premise of the plot and all of these people. Amy Walker just knows that she is being followed. After her abduction a year ago in Afghanistan and her narrow escape from her tormentors, she has never felt quite right. She knows deep down inside that her being kidnapped was not just a random act. She understands that her tormentors are nowhere near being done with her—in fact, they obviously won't stop until she is dead. Tired of running but knowing that she needs to settle things once and for all, Amy runs straight to the only man capable of keeping her safe. Dallas Garrett. Okay, I will pause here to just let the name sink in. He is one hot man, and he oozes testosterone and sex appeal to the max. If Amy has a weakness, it is Dallas. And who in the world would blame her? A year ago he saved her from hell in Afghanistan, and then she left him without even a word of goodbye. Dallas doesn't know how he will ever be able to forgive her for that. But when she shows up at his doorstep barely conscious and carrying a backpack full of suspicious goodies, Dallas knows that he is in for the ride of his life. I love how strong both of these characters are. Ms. Gerard set it up beautifully to allow Dallas to be the protector, but still give Amy an edge that lets her be just as strong as he is, both emotionally and physically. Where Dallas is all heaving muscles and clenching fists, Amy is small and wily and not afraid to get right into the middle of a fight. She has a score to settle and she is not letting anyone get in her way, and Dallas sees that need and respects it. Ms. Gerard has taken suspense to a whole new level with INTO THE DARK. Right from the first page I was hooked and knew I was in for a great ride! With lead characters that are on fire, lighting up the pages, and a plot that is seriously fast paced and thrilling, this book is a complete winner from start to finish. Kristal Gorman |
