WITCH FIRE by Anya Bast tells the story of Mira, a waitress who is unaware she's a natural-born witch, and Jack, a man (also a witch) who is sent to protect her from the evil forces that are determined to catch—and ultimately kill—her. Jack arrives in time to help Mira escape the first wave of goons sent to snare her and whisks her to his penthouse to hide her. Jack, whose element is fire, is attracted to Mira immediately, but he harbors a terrible secret. His past is tied to hers in a way that is so evil and dark, he can't admit what binds him to her. Mira, who learns her element is air, struggles to control her newly found magic while her desire for Jack threatens to overtake her completely. This is an entertaining story that covers all the bases. The main characters are interesting, the story is a classic good vs. evil scenario, and the exchanges between hero and heroine are passionate. I wished for more back story, but even without that, this book was enjoyable. Witches, magic and romance fill the pages of WITCH FIRE, and if that is your cup of tea, this book is sure to please.
