DEMON'S DELIGHT is an anthology of paranormal and fantasy novellas from these talented authors: MaryJanice Davidson, Catherine Spangler, Emma Holly and Vicki Taylor. Fans of these genres will no doubt be entertained by this unique anthology. MaryJanice Davidson kicks off DEMON'S DELIGHT with her novella, Witch Way. I found her contribution to the anthology totally enjoyable. Being a fan of MaryJanice, I was thrilled to see that she didn't change her style of writing one bit to fit in with the other novellas, which I found to be darker and more intense than Witch Way. MaryJanice writes about a witch hunter and a witch, inevitably falling for each other. It's just funny to see how they end up falling for each other considering the witch hunter is hell bound to kill the witch. Not to mention that there's a big family feud between the two of them and there's really only one way to end the feud. All I have to say is that this is a great story to begin DEMON'S DELIGHT with. Catherine Spangler's, Street Corners and Halos, is the next novella in the anthology. Her story is darker and much more emotional than MaryJanice Davidson's. Catherine Spangler tells the gripping tale of a hurt young woman who was turned into a vampire by a Nazi while she was in a concentration camp. Fast forward to the present. Rachel is a prostitute who lures men and plays mind games with them in order to feed. She's alone, depressed, and afraid to become close to anybody. Lucky for her, there's an angel ready to show Rachel what it means to live and love again. Once Rachel can see the goodness in herself and learn to trust others, she will be offered the most treasured gift that's ever been offered to her. Life. Catherine Spangler's Street Corners and Halos is an impressive novella. Emma Holly is next with her contribution, The Demon's Angel. This is the only novella in DEMON'S DELIGHT that I had a hard time reading. I found it to be a bit confusing and not really satisfying. I'm still a fan of Emma Holly, but in my opinion she could have written a whole book instead of a novella and I probably would have enjoyed it more. She put a lot of story in a short amount of space, and it was a bit hard to keep up with. Last but not least is Angel and the Hellraiser by Vickie Taylor, another great short story that I loved. Vickie Taylor wrote a touching story about a man who defies death every day and the angel who is ready to capture his soul. This is the perfect story to end DEMON'S DELIGHT with! It is a heartwarming story that may even bring a tear to your eye. DEMON'S DELIGHT is an entertaining anthology that brings together four talented authors. It's a great book for any paranormal/fantasy reader. Julie Kornhausl |
