Sin and Scandal in England by Melody Thomas

Succumbing to sin ...
Bethany Munro was once madly in love with the dashing Ian Rockwell. Then Ian left on a mission for the Crown, and Bethany was forced to put her heart aside... until one glittering night when she spies him across a crowded ballroom, and the feelings she once felt come rushing back. But she has her secrets...

...and so does he. Sir Ian Rockwell has led a dangerous life and is now a suspect in a crime he did not commit. He never imagined the naive girl he knew so long ago could be the beauty standing before him now, or that she would be the one who could help him prove his innocence. But in a world of glamour and intrigue, where nothing is as it seems, their perilous game of seduction soon turns into a night of sin, a night where they both discover the only thing more dangerous than passion is falling in love.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Every so often an author comes along that I want to look into, but I never take the time to really do it. Melody Thomas is one of those authors. As soon as her new release, SIN AND SCANDAL IN ENGLAND was available to read, I decided to jump at the chance. I'm so glad that I did. I loved this book and I truly loved the characters in it. If you haven't read any books by Melody Thomas, then this is the book to start with. It's a wonderful historical romance, and this historical romance reader enjoyed every page of it!

Bethany Munro is on a mission: to find out what really happened to her beloved science teacher who was last seen at Whitley Court—the home of a man that not all know is the head of a dangerous anarchist movement. While a guest there, she sees the man she fell in love with when she was younger, Sir Ian Rockwell. Bethany is going to become entangled in a dangerous investigation where even her own life will be on the line.

The dashing Sir Ian Rockwell is more than what he appears to be, and when he spies Bethany, those memories he tried to erase come back to him full force. Ian works with an elite group for the Crown and is on a mission himself at Whitley Court. He knows that Bethany is up to something, but he can't trust her with the secret of who he really is and foul up this extremely important mission. When Bethany and Ian finally confront each other, memories of the past come crashing down on them both, and they soon find themselves not only in danger from their surroundings, but also from their intense attraction toward each other.

I was instantly drawn into this story. The mix of romance and suspense kept me turning the pages. I loved the sexual tension between Ian and Bethany—they made one thrilling couple. I found the plot to be a bit complex, but at the same time intriguing enough to keep me interested in more than just the romantic aspect of this story.

I thoroughly enjoyed SIN AND SCANDAL IN ENGLAND by Melody Thomas.
