RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Lisa Jackson is one of my favorite authors. This novel is quite different from the past books that I have read of hers and the ones that are sitting on my bookshelf, such as SHIVER and ABSOLUTE FEAR. This book takes the reader back to North Wales in the year 1289.

Bryanna is a young woman who is on the brink of discovering her powers, a legacy left to her by her mother. Bryanna's mother was stoned to death after being accused of being a witch. However, before her death, she cursed her murderer. Bryanna was left to be raised by others and has no idea of her true self, until her childhood "Nanny" comes to her after her death and causes Bryanna to embark on a journey of danger, magic, and love, with a wanted and dangerous man named Gavyn.

When I first started SORCERESS, I did not know if it was something that was going to hold my interest. I have never been one for religious persecution stories, especially about sorcery or magic. But this story is so much more. It was an intense read for me, but one I enjoyed immensely. Jackson again proves why she is one of the best authors ever—she grabs the reader from the beginning and enthralls them with her amazing ability to tell a story. Even better, Jackson is one of the few authors who can write so many different genres with supreme talent.
