Barbara Metzger is an author that I've been wanting to read, but just never did. I have to say that her new release, TRULY YOURS, is a beautifully told romance and one that I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to read and review. TRULY YOURS tells the story of Amanda Carville and Viscount Rexford. Amanda has been imprisoned and is accused of murdering her meandering stepfather since she was found holding the murder weapon. Viscount Rexford, or Rex, is blessed or cursed (depends on how you view it) with the ability to tell when someone is lying. After being injured in the war, he comes back home to pick up what pieces of him are left. When confronted by his father to help Amanda, he begrudgingly accepts. When he finds Amanda at prison, abused and half dead, he manages to get her free—now if only he could talk to her to find out if she really did kill her stepfather. Amanda and Rex are two really powerful characters. Amanda is not only trying to regain her strength and health, but is also dealing with the fact that although she is not in prison anymore, she still has a hearing to attend. Her only hope is Rex and his cousin Daniel, and their "ability" to find the truth and the person who really murdered her stepfather before her court date. It doesn't take long for Amanda and Rex to realize that their attraction to each other is intense. There's so much more that is going on in this story. I really loved the whole concept of Rex being able to know when a person is lying or telling the truth. The blossoming relationship between he and Amanda is what made me keep turning the pages, and also made me not wanting this story to end. I loved TRULY YOURS by Barbara Metzger. It's a classic love story that has a bit of a twist added to it. It's written superbly and with such depth and emotion given to the characters, that I couldn't help but fall in love with them. It has found a place on my keeper shelf, and hopefully it will have a place on yours. Julie Kornhausl |
