Sometimes this reviewing business gets hard. This is one of those times. I do not have a lot of positive things to say about MOVING TARGET, so I will be as brief and kind as I can be. MOVING TARGET is wordy. How that is possible in a book, I do not know, but it is. It is not in the least bit thrilling, despite its awful, but exciting, cover. Though I certainly had hopes for action, due to the guns on the cover and a little bit of it in the first chapter, aside from some slashing of tires on a rental car, that's about it. Which is crazy considering the premise of the story is about the heroine and her bodyguard. And speaking of the heroine, she does so much reminiscing, analyzing and contemplating, that sometimes I cannot figure out if she is thinking or physically doing something. The segues from her internal musings to her actions are not smooth, to say the least. And "How is the romance?", you ask? Well, "Where is it?" is a better question. MOVING TARGET is not my favorite read as you can no doubt tell, but I suppose someone will like it. Shannon Johnson |
