Immortals: The Haunting by Robin T. Popp

For centuries they have walked among us—vampires, shape-shifters, the Celtic Sidhe, demons, and other magical beings. Their battle to reign supreme is constant, but one force holds them in check, a race of powerful warriors known as the...IMMORTALS

Random flashes of light. Ominous messages written on steamy mirrors. Assailants lurking in shadows. Mai’s hallucinations are becoming a little too real—the last one almost killed her. She’s faced ancient demons and rogue vampires, but this kind of dark magic is more powerful than any she’s seen. Mai also senses someone else trying to help her, a dream walker who comes in the night to soothe her fears. And fulfill her wildest fantasies. But who is he? As the danger and desire escalate, Mai is determined to find him—for only together can they stop THE HAUNTING.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

Book seven in the Immortals series is a bit of a sidebar, featuring wood nymph Mai Groves, who is a friend of Lexi, who married Darius, one of the Immortal warriors. She has never recovered from her part in one of the big battles, and has lost her reporting job while suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. When she starts having hallucinations again, she isn’t sure if her trauma has resurfaced or if it is real

The truth is she is really in trouble, and dream walker Nick rescues her. He’s a member of the Los Paseantes de Espiritu, a race of chameleons, though he likes to live in the human world and works in security. They immediately discover quite a bond between them, though it takes a while to realize they have met both in the mortal world and in dreams.
With Mai having made a very bad choice of apartment, and running into a very dangerous investigation, there’s a lot for Nick to rescue her from. Unless she can restore her own powers, she needs all the help she can get.

IMMORTALS: THE HAUNTING is a good read—a very fast-paced, sexy book with interesting world-building and intriguing bad guys. It could be read as a stand-alone book, so don’t hesitate to pick it up if you haven’t delved into this series before.
