Knight's Fork by Rowena Cherry

The Queen Consort of the Volnoth needs a sperm donor, and only one green-eyed god has the right stuff. Little does she know she has pinned all her hopes on the crown jewels of the fabled Royal Saurian Djinn. Not only is he the son of her greatest enemy, but he has taken a vow of chastity.

The Saurian Knight is caught between a problem father who has all the moral integrity of a Mafia Don, and a married Princess who would stop at nothing to have his seed in her belly. No matter which way he turns, he’s “forked.”

Taking the wrong lover…in the wrong place, at the wrong time…is dangerous. And when the High and Mighty intervene, it can be fatal. Can true love and a pure White Knight’s virtue triumph, when society loves a right royal scandal?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

When I first started reading KNIGHT'S FORK, I have to be honest with you that I asked myself, what did I get myself into? It was so confusing... the characters, the language, who was mated, who were siblings, who hated who. I realized by the middle of this book that this had to be a sequel as the family was just too big and complicated, and the author wrote about the characters as if the reader should know who everyone was already. So, I did my research and I found that there is a whole series based upon the Djinn family.

By the middle of the story I was starting to get used to the language and the characters, and by the end, I was very interested and looking forward to catching up on a little more Djinn history.

This book was not what I expected, but I can't say it was bad. You have to really like futuristic books, and if you don't but want to try something new (which was my case), you have to be patient with it until you have a feel for who everyone is and what their powers and roles are in the family.

The only thing I would change is to make it a little less wordy. I know the author was trying to create a futuristic scene, but there was just too much, and that took away from the first and second half of the book. But I am going to read FORCED MATE, which I hope will be easier to read now that I got christened into the life of the Djinn family.
