RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

ONLY IN SPIRIT is a three-person anthology featuring characters from the spirit world. Sometimes the spirits are the romantic object, sometimes they are a plot catalyst, but all are skillfully written.

Kate Hofman offers the title story, Only In Spirit. Bianca Saint-Antoine is on her way to a party when a group of drunken revelers attack. She’s saved from the horrors of gang-rape by a mysterious gentleman, who sweeps her off her feet and invites her to a party of his own. Within hours she’s convinced he is her one and only. But what doesn’t she realize about him? They do spend time in New Orleans… This tale is the most sensual of the three and has a roster of interesting characters. The only blot on the story is dialogue that doesn’t read naturally.

Gwyn Lacy pens Valentino’s Ghost—guess who the spirit is in this one! Camilla is a Hispanic woman trapped in a hellish nightmare by a vicious pair of men. When they kidnap a boy, he helps her find the will to escape, but she ends up badly hurt and hospitalized. Will she find love in her own time or with silent movie heart throb Rudolf Valentino in the spirit world? This story will give you chills and thrills!

Last up is Bill Haworth’s Castle on the Moor. A young engaged couple gets the decorating job that will set up their finances and make it possible to marry. But the castle they thought was occupied, ends up having a very unusual elderly caretaker. Can they manage the situation well enough to save their future? A great spooky tale with a happy ending.
